I certify that the within named B. DeBruhl, a private of
Captain, N.Z.Leitner Company E of the Second Regiment of South Carolina
Volunteers, Born in Kershaw District in the State of South Carolina age 17
years 5 feet 8 inches high fair complexion, gray eyes, dark hair, and by
occupation a farmer, was enlisted by Col. John D. Kennedy at Camden, South
Carolina on the 8th day of April 1861 to serve one year and is now
entitled to a discharge by reason of Conscription Act passed 16th of
April 1862, he being under 18 years of age, and having served the required 90
days, the said B. DeBruhl, was last paid by Capt. Peck.
To include the 28th day February 1862 and has pay
due from that date to the present date.--------is due to him traveling
allowance from the place of discharge ,to place of enrolment, transportation
not being furnished in kind. There is owed him $44.95 for 4 months & 8 days
also $20.00 for clothing. He is indebted to the Confederate States, on Account
of given in duplicate at camp on battlefield of July 1st the 8th
day of July 1862 J.D. Dunleagh Lt. Commanding Company E.

Benjamin was home on leave at his home in Greenville, SC. While home he married Rebecca Malinda Marshbanks
of Greenville, SC. He was 20 and Rebecca was 18.
