Michael Samuel DeBruhl Jr.
Birth 15 August 1752 Halifax, Halifax County, Nova Scotia, Canada.
Death 5 January 1811 Charleston, South Carolina, United States of America.
He is buried in St Phillips Episcopal Church cemetery just a block from his
home and Silver shop. Michael Samuel DeBruhl Jr. Set out the Revolutionary War
in Nassau Bahama's. He bought properties in Nassau and lived there for several years.
He returned to Charleston just a few years before his death in 1811. He opened his
business with Mary Matilda Dunseeth as Dunseeth and DeBruhl, Silversmiths,
Clock Makers, and Engravers. Michael Samuel DeBruhl Jr was the last DeBruhl
to practice the trades. His brother Edward Cornwallis DeBruhl was charged with
counterfeiting and in return for States Evidence, he was inducted into the Patriot Army
as a Cooper. (Barrell Maker). His counterfeiting might have been an act of war.
There were several other men involved in the counterfeiting scheme, and they
were all members of the Local Masonic Lodge in New Bern, NC. including the judge
that ordered him to serve in the Patriot Army.
